WHAT IS THE OPTICAL ASSISTANT?

The Optical Assistant is an indispensable online reference for members of the Optometric industry. It contains a Guideline Tariff for Professional Services and Lenses, a Product Finder and Suppliers Listing plus a comprehensive Continuing Education programme with Articles and Tests accredited by the Health Professions Council of South Africa.

The Optical Assistant Guideline Tariff is recognised by the Profession and Medical Aid industry as a fair guide to these products and services.

The Optical Assistant Guideline Tariff is published three times per year: 1st January, 1st May and 1st September and is available to all Optometrists and Optical Dispensers within Southern Africa.

The Optical Assistant Guideline Tariff for optometric procedures and products published on this website is provided for informational and reference purposes only.

Practitioners are permitted to use the Guideline Tariff free of charge when charging private or medical aid patients through a manual billing system. This permission includes viewing, downloading, and manually referencing the tariff information contained in the published PDF documents.

Please note: The Guideline Tariff may not be uploaded, imported, incorporated, captured, stored, or otherwise used within any electronic, digital, or computer-based system—including but not limited to practice-management software, billing systems, point-of-sale systems, or database applications—without obtaining a valid licence from us.

Any electronic use or integration of the Guideline Tariff without prior written permission or a licensing agreement is strictly prohibited and constitutes a violation of our intellectual property rights.
